Introduction
Dead animal disposal in urban areas is a critical challenge for municipal corporations due to its direct impact on public health, sanitation, and environmental safety. Improper handling and disposal of carcasses can lead to foul odours, disease outbreaks, groundwater contamination, and serious ecological concerns.
Therefore, safe, scientific, and timely disposal systems are essential for maintaining hygienic urban environments.
Why This Matters
Municipal bodies need a clean, practical, and scalable process that reduces health risks, prevents odour, and avoids pollution during carcass disposal.
Challenges & Concerns
Improper carcass disposal creates multiple public health and environmental risks for urban areas.
01
Public Health & Environmental Concerns
Decomposing animal carcasses act as breeding grounds for harmful bacteria, pathogens, and disease-carrying vectors such as flies and rodents.
02
Water & Soil Contamination
Carcasses discarded in open areas, dumping grounds, or near water bodies can contaminate soil and groundwater through decomposition fluids and leachate.
03
Attraction of Scavengers
Rotting carcasses attract stray dogs, jackals, vultures, and other scavengers, increasing the risk of disease transmission and human-animal conflicts.
04
Urban Strays & Abandoned Livestock
Large populations of stray animals and abandoned livestock often suffer from disease, malnutrition, accidents, and plastic-contaminated waste ingestion.
05
Neglect in Shelters & Illegal Dumping
Overcrowding in shelters and inadequate monitoring of disposal contractors frequently results in illegal dumping instead of scientific burial or cremation.
SFI Solution
The Perfect Solution
At the Soil Fertility Institute, we understand the seriousness of this issue and work with municipal corporations on a contractual basis to provide sustainable and scientific carcass disposal solutions.
We have developed a specialized Premium Odour Eliminator Decomposer (POED) specifically designed for the rapid and odourless decomposition of dead animals.
By using POED, both small and large animal carcasses can be decomposed efficiently without generating foul smell or environmental pollution.
How It Works
Application Process
Municipal authorities allocate designated land or disposal zones for odourless decomposition activities.
Upon arrival at the disposal site, the process is carried out in a controlled and systematic way:
- POED is injected into different parts of the carcass.
- The solution is sprayed externally over the body.
- The carcass is then covered with cloth or suitable material.
- Additional spraying is carried out as required during the decomposition cycle.
Expected Result:
Within approximately 3–4 weeks, the soft tissues are completely decomposed, leaving only bones and skin residues for further handling by the concerned authorities. The entire decomposition process is completely odourless, hygienic, and environmentally safe.
